Donating 100 pounds of supplies to Matanzas, Cuba with Not just tourists

Delivering 100 lbs of Medical Supplies to Matanzas, Cuba

This weekend, I had the privilege of delivering 100 pounds of donated medical supplies to the Hospital Pediátrico Provincial Eliseo Noel Camano in Matanzas, Cuba, in partnership with Not Just Tourists (Toronto). I’m grateful the supplies went to good hands and will support a busy pediatric hospital serving many families.

How the Delivery Worked

Not Just Tourists helps travelers carry donated, pre-sorted medical supplies in an extra suitcase and deliver them directly to clinics and hospitals in need. Our local guides, Ismarie and Omberto, were incredible—helping us navigate the city and coordinate the hand-off with hospital staff.

Why It Matters

Essential items—like basic wound care materials, gloves, and other medical basics—stretch limited resources and help clinicians focus on patient care. Small acts of logistics and generosity can make a tangible difference on the ground.

How You Can Help

  • Donate gently used luggage (suitcases) to your local Not Just Tourists chapter.
  • If you’re traveling, consider carrying a supply suitcase on your next trip.
  • Spread the word so more supplies reach communities that need them.
